The Aeta Tribe Foundation is an International 501(c)3 formed in the State of California in May 2015 to promote and protect the health and well-being of the indigenous Aeta Tribes of the Philippines. Prior to the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991, approximately 800,000 Aeta people lived along the mountain’s slopes. The eruption caused the land and water to be poisoned, and diminished the population to approximately 40,000 Aeta tribespeople. The Aeta Tribe Foundation works with tribespeople to keep their culture and families alive in a homeland territory with difficult access to clean water and food.
Under the direction of President Fernando Briosos, the foundation began a
series of massive rehabilitation and relief efforts to assist families, and children who were severely malnourished and struggling with poverty and poor health. Through donor support the Aeta Tribe Foundation raised enough money to serve 6,000 Aeta people, about 16% of the population.
In Floridablanca (PampangaProvince)the Aeta Tribe Foundation repaired three broken artesian wells including the Behnke and Franciscan Friar Wells. The organization also provided 200 five-gallon blue plastic containers for seniors and schools to transport and store water. The organization was also able to provide eight 50-kilo rice sacs and 2400 cans of sardines, which were equitable divided among the families.
Many of the 1200 people living in Botolan (Zambales Province) are severely malnourished children. The families of Botolan have access to clean water but required irrigation systems for farming, seeds for sowing, and livestock for milk and farm working. Two female water buffalo and one female goat were purchased to provide nutritious milk to the tribespeople. Also four 50-kilo rice sacks were delivered and divided equitable among families. In addition, 220 sandals, 120 backpacks with school supplies were provided to students and two large stainless steel pots and utensils were donated for the school and students.
